The Football Players Association of India was established on 28th June, 2006 as a registered society under the Societies act. In 2008 FPAI became a candidate member of FIFPro the world player union and a partner of FIFA. This FPAI is formed by the players, consists of players and is for the benefit of football players.
OBJECTIVES
- To educate, train and develop the game of football amongst the players and act as a single representative organisation for all players across India
- Develop training and education to promote footballers welfare beyond the field of football
- Make use of the expertise and experience of senior members and players for development of professionalism of football in India
- Look after the welfare and work for the benefit of players both former and current
- Eradicate exploitation of the players particularly those who are from rural and backward areas and unable to express or represent themselves
- Act as an accredited representative of the players and liaise in all matters of common interest
- Work towards the promotion of football players in all capacities both on the field and in portraying a better image off the field
- Assist the football bodies in the country towards promotion of the game of football and work in tandem for development and promotion
- Honour and felicitate players through awards, prizes and incentives and to encourage and motivate them

- Discounts and reductions on football merchandise for players and clubs
- Discounts at outlets in different cities for the benefit of players
- Tours for clubs and players that will help or assist players in gaining exposure and better training facilities
- Pre season and post season tournaments
- Exhibition matches for the promotion of players and the association
- Tournaments for corporates to encourage players and help form a better understanding of football among the corporate sector
